In March 2012, he and his team-mate Țîru have been on trial at Ajax. Galatasaray was also linked with Iancu.
Steaua București
In December 2012, Gabriel Iancu signed a 5-year contract with Steaua București for an undisclosed fee, which acquired 70% of the player"s rights.
His contract includes a €25 million buyout clause. On July 30, Iancu scored the only two goals in the away victory against Dinamo Tbilisi, to facilitate Steaua"s progression to the Play-off round.
