He became the state Minister of Power & Energy of Rajasthan. Held responsibilities as Minister of Energy, Government of Rajasthan (2003-2008). Khimsar Group of Hotels is the recipient of the "Best Grand Heritage Hotel Award".

Gajendra Singh went to the Doon School in Dehradun and graduated from Saint Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He pursued his post graduation studies at the University of Western Canada.
He also represented India at the World Squash Championship. During his college years, he was ranked 28th in the PSA (Professional Squash Association) world rankings.
He was also ranked no.2 in Canada and was the finalist of the United States and Canadian Open.
He hails from the family of Khimsar and is the 20th direct descendent of Rao Karamsi (Founder of the Karamsot Clan of Rathore’s). A Hotelier by profession, the Khimsar Group of Hotels has been recipient of the "National Grand Heritage Award Foreign Excellence"- the highest recognition conferred upon any heritage property by the Department of Tourism, Government of India.
