In 1928, Gandikota Gopalarao became Honoured Bachelor of Arts at Andhra University. In 1930, he graduated from Allahabad University, where he was a silver medalist, and took a degree of Master of Science. He also got Doctor of Science Degree there.
The research of Gandikota Gopalarao was devoted to analytical chemistry and Physical Chemistry. In 1944-1949, he was organizer-director at Analytical and Testing Laboratory of the Government of Madras. Later, he was in charge of the Chemistry Department of Andhra University. Golaparao was also a regional editor of "Talanta".
