He was twice named to the All-California Interscholastic Federation team for baseball, and enrolled at the University of Southern California ( University of Southern California) to play college baseball for the University of Southern California Trojans. The Houston Astros selected Stubbs in the eighth round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He signed with the Astros and made his professional debut with the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League.
After 11 games with Tri-City, the Astros promoted Stubbs to the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League.
He previously attended the University of Southern California ( University of Southern California) to play college baseball for the University of Southern California Trojans, and won the Johnny Bench Award as the nation"s best collegiate catcher. In 2015, his senior year at University of Southern California, Stubbs was named the Pac-12 Conference"s Defensive Player of the Year, and won the Johnny Bench Award as the best catcher in college baseball.
