Career
Born and raised in the United States, Beck married a Canadian and they made their home in her native Edmonton, Alberta. He competed in stock car racing before switching to drag racing. Beck was named driver of the year by Drag News and top fuel driver of the year by Carolina Craft.
Among his 1975 victories, he took the Canadian Open Top Fuel championship.
Inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 1999, on the National Hot Rod Association Top 50 Drivers, 1951–2000, Beck was ranked 24th.
