Gary Bukovnik emerged to the art scene in the late 1970s. He has widely exhibited his colorful still lifes around the United States, both at solo and group shows, including the Brooklyn Museum, Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Gallery at Lincoln Center, New York City, the Butler Institute of American Art, and others. He has also demonstrated his artworks in China, Slovenia, and Luxembourg.
Bukovnik has collaborated with several civic organizations working on their commissions. The San Francisco Symphony, the New York Metropolitan Opera, and the Cleveland Institute of Music are among them.
Since 1990, the artist is represented by Steven Scott Gallery, Baltimore.
In 2003 and 2005, Bukovnik was an artist in residence at the American Academy in Rome, as well as at the Michigan Institute of Arts in Kalamazoo in 2010. The same year, he has toured with his watercolors around Japan.
