(Is liberal democracy the end of history? Is a written con...)
Is liberal democracy the end of history? Is a written constitution the ultimate political authority? Does majority rule equal moral rule? Are all moral values relative? What is the legitimate use of coercive force in society? The New Social Contract: Beyond Liberal Democracy offers an answer to these and other age-old questions. Even more important than theoretical answers, The New Social Contract offers a way to turn theory into practical reality, to join moral and political philosophy with the coercive force of the law of society, and thereby create a society that provides the greatest possible opportunity for every individual to achieve his or her happiness.

Before starting his lawyer's career, Gary Gerrard did his military service in the United States Army from 1972 till 1974. From 1976 till 1986 he was in the United States Army Reserve, becoming captain.
Gerrard began his career in 1979, straight after obtaining a degree in jurisprudence. During one year, he was an attorney at Gerard & Matthews. Later for more than ten years, he worked as an attorney for various law firms, including Kimbrell, Hamman, Jennings from 1980 till 1982, Haddad, Josephs & Jack from 1982 till 1990, and Freidin, Hirsch & Gerrard from 1991 till 1993. In March 1993 Gerrard established his small law business and became the owner of Gary Gerrard, PA & Associates based in Lexington, Georgia.
Gerrard held concurrent positions as a lawyer and educator. From 1994 till 1995 he was an adjunct professor at the University of Miami and occupied the same position at the University of Georgia School of Law from 2002 till 2011.
Besides his work as a lawyer and teaching activities, Gerrard is also the author of the book The New Social Contract: Beyond Liberal Democracy, in which he argues that an individualistic society, based on the morality of equality, is a step beyond a liberal democracy. He presents facts and logic to support his argument and, refreshingly, offers some creative thinking on how to achieve a more individualistic society from personal relationships to governmental policies.
