Quotations:
"My interest in television westerns grew out of ‘The American West,’ a college course that 1 developed about fifteen years ago. A segment of the course was devoted to the effect of the West on American popular culture (art, fiction, music, films, radio, and television). This led to a series of papers, which I presented at meetings of the Popular Culture Association."
"My writing on the subject of television westerns represents a merging of an early avocational interest in radio drama and a later academic interest in the historic West. My current work on television medical dramas reflects my continued interest in radio and television, as scholars and academicians turn increased attention to that activity which occupies too much leisure time of the American public."
Gary Yoggy was married twice. His second wife, Anna Jean Smith was a church secretary. They married on October 2, 1982. They are the parents of three children: Beth Ann Yoggy Porter, Todd A., Kristen L. Yoggy Davis.
