Gary is a registered Democrat. He is an active supporter of alumni groups connected to Bishop McDevitt High School and Queen of Peace Catholic School (now Good Shepherd Regional School). Although he holds himself out as a Catholic, he supports abortion and LGBTQ rights and legalization of mariquana for recreational use.
Connections
Gary and his partner, Christina Aborlleile, adopted a baby girl in 1997 through Veitnamese authorities whom was named Maya. Thereafter, the couple had a tumultuous relationship which led to a very heated and bitter court battle over custody of Maya, and after many years the appeals court agreed with the lower courts that the adoptive mother, not Gary, should be awarded primary custody of the child. When she turned 18, Maya did not want to be known as Maya Chilutti so she filed legal paperwork in court to have her name legally changed to Maya Aborlleile, and the court officially granted the name change for good reasons shown. Gary and his daughter have been estranged for many years. Gary wrote and published a song in which he publicly laments and pines about his daughter's decision to disconnect from him. Maya at present date has declined to disclose any details why she does not want Gary in her life.
Gary identifies as bi-sexual and has been linked personally and professionally to David Fair, a prominent gay rights leader in Philadelphia. Gary is married to Marianne Cellier, a French national, and lives in her home in a wealthy Philadelphia suburb, but has traveled frequently to Europe on vacation with various male friends. Details of the marriage arrangement with Marianne have been kept confidential.
