Studied at Old Aberdeen Grammar School. Aberdeen University; Free Church College. Master of Arts.
Career
Has given much attention to poetry and music, making a special study of the native minstrelsy. Pioneer of the new Folk-Song movement in North Britain. Carrying on research work under the auspices of the New Spalding Club, and as a grantee under the Carnegie Trust Research Scheme for the Universities of Scotland. Justice of the Peace; Headmaster of New Deer Whitehill Public School since 1879.
Membership
Fellow of the Educational Institute of Scotland.
