Since 1930 specialist, Geomorphological Institute, now the Institute of Geography, USSR Academy of Science. 1935, after this institute’s transfer to Moscow, simultaneously instructor in physical geographical, Moscow Oblast Pedagogical Institute.
1935 awarded title Candidate of Geography Science without having to defend his thesis. 1958 elected Chairman, Interdept. Coordinating Committee the Study of Snow Cover.
Carried out important studies of the relief structure of Kola Penin* sula, North Europe and Greenland and analysed fissure tectonics of Kola Peninsula and adjacent territory. 1937 completed edition work on “Geomorphological Map of the European USSR”, compiled by Institute of Geography, USSR Academy of Science. Editor, “SnowCover Maps of the USSR and the World”.
