Chua pursues an unfurling narrative that is informed by natural history and linguistics. While contested notions of nature and wilderness persist across her work, the form taken by her exhibitions – whether installations, images or objects – is mediated through these processes. Chua has participated in numerous residences locally and abroad.
In 2011, she was selected for the Bayerische Motoren Werke Young Asian Artist Series III at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute and the Late Fall Residency at The Banff Centre.
She was also a resident at the Global Corporate Challenge Creative Residency Programme at the Gyeonggi Creation Centre in Gyeonggi-do, South of Korea and The Art Incubator at the Centre for Creative Communications in Shizuoka, Japan.
