Gengendo II learned the art of copper-plate print pictures from his father. He could write one thousand Chinese ideographs on a space as small as a postage stamp.
After the Restoration of 1868, he made paper money, postage stamps, etc., at the request of the Imperial Government. His series of prints depicting sights in Tokyo was well received.
