Gennady Petrovich Korotkov was a commander of the 238th Infantry Division of the Central Asian Military District (1941-1942), chief of Staff of the 49th Army (May-June 1942), Commander of the 5th Guards Rifle Corps (June-October 1942). He was a commander of the 53rd (1942-1943), 1st Shock (1943-1944), 22nd Shock (1944-1945) armies, commander of the Primorsky Military District (1947-1948). Gennady Petrovich was a chief of Staff of the Voronezh Military District (1949-1955) and military adviser in the Czechoslovak SSR (1955-1958). After retiring he lived in Voronezh.
