The Knight"s Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Georg Haus was killed on 16 April 1945 near Pillau, East Prussia during the Zemland Offensive. He was posthumously promoted to Generalleutnant.
