He was awarded the, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World World War World War II Georg Langendorf was born on 28 July 1920, in Gräfenhausen, Darmstadt. He was awarded the Knight"s Cross while in command of the 5th (Heavy) Company, 11th Steamship Reconnaissance Battalion, 11th Steamship Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nordland in March 1944. Langendorf was wounded during the Battle of Berlin in April 1945 but survived the war and died on the 28 January 1999.
