Beginning practice in the early twentieth century, for a few years 1904-1909, he was a member of the architectural office of a leading Boston architect, R.Clipton Sturgis, and in that association was identified with the planning of a number of buildings, among which were the First National Bank and Franklin Union in Boston. In independent practice, during subsequent years his work included many fine residences in the city and suburbs.
After his retirement. Mr. Barton spent his later years at Clifton Springs, New York, United States.
