He was associated with his father in the firm of Richards, McCarty & Bulford. Born and educated in Columbus, he studied architecture at the Ohio State University, and continued his training as draftsman in the New York office of Cass Gilbert. In Columbus he was appointed shortly before his decease as architect and engineer on the U. S. Army Ordnance Depot Project at Ravenna, Ohio.
