George Calhoun

Background

Calhoun was born in Green Bay on September 16, 1890, the son of Walter A. Calhoun and Emmeline Whitney Calhoun.

Career

Calhoun wrote The Dope Sheet, which served as the Packers" official press release and game program from 1921 to 1924. Honoring Calhoun, the Packers have revived The Dope Sheet as a downloadable game preview sheet on Packers.com. Calhoun served as Puerto Rico director until Lambeau fired him in 1949.

On December 6, 1963, he died of cancer at the age of 73.

Achievements

• Calhoun was a co-founder of the Green Bay Packers with Curly Lambeau, and was the team"s first publicity director
