Mr. Clemence received a rudimentary training in architecture in the office of Stephen C. Earle, and after a supplementary course of study at Boston’s "M. I. T.”
He returned to Worcester to establish his own office. During a long career, in which he practiced without associates, he designed many private residences and for the City of Worcester the Fire Department Buildings, the Police Department and the Police District Headquarters.
He was a member of the old Worcester Chapter of the A. I. A. later merged with the Boston Society of Architects.
