Settled in Chicago, 1883. With Kirby-Carpenter Company, lumber, 5 years. Spent 5 years in the West.

Became identified, 1893, with Bliss, Fabyan & Company, dry goods commission merchants, of which is now resident partner. Financier, organized, Riverbank Acoustical laboratories (originally named the Wallace Clement Sabine Laboratory of Acoustics), Geneva, Illinois, completed 1918, and associated with a number of scientists, inheriting the work of the late Wallace Clement Sabine, an authority on architectural acoustics. Labs. noted for work on sound and cryptography.
