He was a younger son of Sir Thomas Beaumont, 1st Baronet and his wife Elizabeth Farmer, daughter of George Farmer.

Beaumont was educated at New College, Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law in 1690.
In 1713, he was awarded the degree of a Doctor of Civil Law by the University of Oxford. He sat in both the Parliaments of England and Great Britain until his death in 1737. In 1712, Beaumont was appointed a Commissioner of the Privy Seal, and in 1714 a Lord of the Admiralty, a post held only for six months.
Beaumont was unmarried and childless.
