Warrender was a dealer of foreign trade at Edinburgh and its Lord Provost in 1707 and 1714 As a supporter of the House of Hanover, he was created a Baronet, of Lochend, in the County of Haddington by King George I of Great Britain on 2 June 1715. Warrender married firstly Margaret Lawrie and after her death, secondly Grizel Blair, daughter of Hugh Blair. Warrender died at London and was buried at Bunhill Fields.
