He was educated in the city schools of New York, later studied at Cornell University, and early in the 1900's settled in Detroit.
During the long period Mr. Graves was active in practice he planned many and varied types of buildings such as schools, hospitals, residences and industrial plants. Among his most important works should be named the first unit of Highland Park Hospital, St. Francis Xavier Parochial School, Detroit; additions to St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit; State Hospital at Kalamazoo, Mich., and Masonic buildings at Bedford, Highland Park and Owosso, Mich., while notable examples of his residential work are to be found in Detroit, Grosse Point and other locations in the state.
