George Henry studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and later in Macgregor's studio.
,Henry's work was influenced by his collaboration with E. A. Hornel in such works as "The Druids" (1887), Grosvenor Gallery, London.
His pictures in public collections include "The Blue Gown," Museum of Cape Town, "The Gray Hat," at Edinburgh, two portraits at Glasgow, and one at Montreal.
Henry's friendship with Edward Atkinson Hornel led to some collaborative work and they were among the first British artists to visit Japan, traveling there together in 1893. On their return in 1895 Henry's compositions reflected the impact of this visit and continued to have a strong Oriental flavour, but he concentrated on the more lucrative painting of portraits and established a successful studio in London.
Henry died on December 23, 1943 in London, United Kingdom.
