He received his education at Private School and Westminster College in London. He also finished an Education Diploma Course in Oxford in 1910.
Career
He started his career in China since February, 1904. First, he was working with Volunteer Corporation Service "A" from 1904 till 1912, and was at British Reserves since 1912. He was a chairman of the Council at Boys Scouts' Association of China from 1913 till 1917. In 1919 he was a secretary of the Anglo-Chinese Educational Committee. Since 1914, he became an Editor at Educational Directory and Year Book of China.
