And for 1 year Private Secretary to the Honourable William Forster, 1405 when Chief Secretary: resigned, 1865, to engage in squatting pursuits in Queensland.
Appointed to Education Department, New South Wales, 1867, of which he was Chief Clerk for 15 years and Acting Under Secretary for two periods of 18 months and 10 months respectively. Was appointed Comptroller General of Prisons, 1890. Under Secretary of Justice, 1896.
Under Secretary combined departments of AttorneyGeneral and of Justice, 1901-1905.
Retired from service, 1905. Decorated for faithful service. Imperial Service Order^ 1903.
