Nigh, George was born on June 9, 1927 in McAlester, Oklahoma, United States. Son of Wilber and Irene (Crockett) Nigh.

Teacher McAlester (Oklahoma) High School, 1951—1958. Partner Nigh Grocery, McAlester, 1956-1960. Member Oklahoma State Legislature, 1950-1958.

Lieutenant governor State of Oklahoma, 1958-1963, 67-79. Owner public relations firm, 1963—1966. Governor State of Oklahoma, 1963, 79-87.

Distinguished statesman in residence University Center Oklahoma, Edmond, 1987—1992, president Oklahoma, 1992—1997, founder Nigh Institute State Government, 1987. Board directors J.C. Penney Company, Boatmen's First National Bank, Express Personnel Service, Session Border Controllers Banks. Served in United States Navy, 1945-1946.
