He was the son of Richard P. Paddison and Mary Elizabeth Simpson Paddison.

On July 12, 1902, he and J.B. Conrad, Frank East. Bond, and George M. Robbins founded East Coast Lumber and Supply Company, Incorporated. Paddison was named general manager. Together with Bayard Redstone he formed the East Coast Retail Lumber Dealers Association in 1917.
