Mr. Thomson was born in Leith, City of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, on August 2, 1899.

Career

George Thomson joined Beaverbrook’s staff in 1931 after writing several books on Scottish history, including The Rediscovery of Scotland and Caledonia: Or, The Future of the Scots. He also wrote a novel, Whiskey, under the pseudonym Aeneas MacDonald in 1930. As aide to Lord Beaverbrook, he accepted a position as journalist for London’s Evening Standard, and also wrote a column for the Sunday Express.

Achievements

• Mr. Thompson gained prominence as aide to Lord Beaverbrook, the British Minister of Aircraft Production in the 1940s. During his lifetime, he wrote more than twenty books, including histories, biographies, and novels.
