He primarily plays at stand-official Williams played his junior rugby at local amateur team Wigan Street Patricks. He was signed by Wigan in 2012 and played in their junior teams before being promoted to the first team squad for the 2013 season.

Williams made his debut in the Challenge Cup 4th Round against Championship side Leigh Centurions.
He came off the bench to score and convert his own try. George featured in Round 15 (London Broncos) and Round 18 (Widnes Vikings) to Round 19 (Warrington Wolves).

Williams played in the Challenge Cup in Round 6 (Hull KR).

International career
After an outstanding Super League 2015 season, Williams was selected in the England team for their test series against New Zealand.
Williams made his debut for England in a test match, before the series, against France which saw Williams score a try in England"s rout of their opponents.
