politician mayor of Pittsburgh
He worked in a Tobacco plant and eventually went into business for himself. Wilson served as a City Councilman and as the Director of the Public School System. In addition, he was also an attorney.
As Mayor, Wilson introduced President-elect Abraham Lincoln from the balcony of the Monongahela House on a rain-soaked day in February 1861.
He died on February 5, 1902, of pneumonia. And was buried at the Homewood Cemetery.
