Chairman of George Younger and Son, Ltd., brewers, Alloa. Contested Unionist the united Counties of Clackmannan and Kinross, 1895, 1899, and 1900, and Ayr Burghs, 1904. Convener of Clackmannanshire, 1895-1906.

A Member of the Royal Commission on the Licensing Laws, 1896. President of the County Councils’ Association of Scotland, 1902-1904. President of the National Union of Conservative Associations in Scotland, 1904.

A Director of the National Bank of Scotland and of the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company. Member of Parliament (Unionist) Ayr Burghs since 1906; Justice of the Peace and D.L. County Clackmannan; Justice of the Peace Company Stirling.
