He studied at the School of Brigham Young in 1909, and afterwards in the Agricultural College of Utah (now Utah State University).

And in 1911, he received a title of degree. He taught botany at the university, and in middle school biology Brigham. In 1913 he moved to New York two years later he received a Master of Science
From 1928-1946, he worked at the University of Pennsylvania, and then retired for health reasons.
