Davis, George Arthur was born on December 19, 1892 in Lynn, 1Mass. Son of Arthur and Jennie Florence (Holmes) Davis.


Graduate Infantry School, 1925, Command and General staff schedul, 1933, Army War College, 1936, Army Industrial College, 1937. Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington, District of Columbia, 1937.


Private and corporal, 1st Infantry, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, 1912-1915. Second in command Lieutenant, August 15, 1917, and advanced through the grades to brigadier general, March 17, 1943. Participated in operations Chateau Thierry & Aisne Marne offensive with 2d Division in China, 1929-1931.

Chief of staff 10th Corps, 1942-1943. Chief staff 3d Army, February 1943-April 1944. Assistant div. commander 28th Infantry Division, Normandy, Northern France, Germany, Ardennes, Colmar.

Now brigadier general, United States Army, retired Assistant professor military science Boston University, 1920-1924. Professor military science Ripon College, Wisconsin, 1933-1935. Instructor and assistant director training, Infantry School, 1937-1941.
