Background

Kessler, George Edward was born on July 16, 1862 in Frankenhausen, Germany. Son of Edward Carl and Clotilde Kessler.

Education

Came to America with parents, 1865. Educated in public schools, by private tutors, and special instruction in civil engineering, forestry and botany, in Europe.

Career

Engaged as landscape architect at Kansas City, since 1882, and St. Louis, since 1903. Landscape architect, Park Department, Kansas City, since 1892. Planned grounds Louisiana Purchase Exposition, St. Louis, 1904.

Designer of park systems and improvements for Kansas City, Memphis, Cincinnati, Denver, Dallas, Syracuse, Houston, Salt Lake, Indianapolis and many other cities. Planned layout for cantonment, Camp Travis, San Antonio, Texas. Town planner for Rock Island district under United States Housing Corporation.

Member of executive board National City Planning Institute. Member Chamber of Commerce, St. Louis.
