Career

Superintendent standard structural mills Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company, South Chicago, since 1916. Entered Illinois National Guard as private, 1920, private lieutenant colonel, active duty 131st Infantry, trained at Camp Forest, Tennessee, 1941. Commander 2d Battalion, 132d Infantry, South Pacific Campaign, 1941-1943.

Commander regiment, Guadalcanal, 1942. Returned to the United States, 1944. Organized, commander regiment of infantry, Camp Maxey, Texas, 1944.

Director training Camp Wheeler, Georgia, 1945. Separated from service. 1945; chief staff Illinois National Guard, 1946.

Later organized, commander 132d Infantry Regiment, W. Madison St., Chicago. Appointed brig, general, assigned assistant commanding general 33d Division, 1948. Now major general.
