George Frederick Winslow, American naval officer.

Winslow, George Frederick was born on May 8, 1842 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Giles and Elizabeth (Wilcox) Winslow.

Education

Doctor of Medicine Harvard, 1864.

Career

Appointed to United States Navy, July 26, 1862. Advanced through grades to medical director, January 23, 1898. Retired with the rank of rear admiral, January 19, 1903, after over 44 years’ service.

Received the thanks of Her Majesty’s Government for taking care of distressed and suffering subjects in Patagonia during winter of 1869. Also of Peruvian Congress for relief and surgical assistance rendered to suffering people of Arica, Peru, after the earthquake of September 13, 1868.
