GORDON, George Grant was born on January 29, 1836 in London. Son of late Lord Francis Gordon, formerly 1st Life Guards, youngest son of 9th Marquis of Huntly.

Studied at Royal Military College Sandhurst.
Career
Appointed to Scots Guards (then Scots Fusilier Guards), 1852. Served throughout the whole of the Crimean campaign. Present at the battles of the Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol.
Aide-de-camp to General Sir James Simpson, commanding the Forces in the Crimea, for a short time.
Crimean medal with four clasps, Turkish War medal, and 5th order of the Medjidie. Was Equerry and Comptroller many years to Their Royal Highnesses Prince and Princess Christian.
Now Extra Equerry. Jubilee medal with clasp, C. B. and Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
Commanded Royal Scottish Reserve Rgt., 1900 (now disbanded). Late commanding 3rd Battalion Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment), now Honourable Colonel 3rd Battalion Royal Scots, et cetera C.V O. 1897; Justice of the Peace Berkshire and Company of London.
