Began business career in wholesale grocery house in Toronto. Later became manager for his father as contractor for building the Southern Central Railroad (later part of Lehigh Valley System). Organized 1886, of which was president (director), Cleveland Stone Company.

Became president Underwriters Land Company, Interurban Railway & Terminal Company.

Retired. President Perry Victory Centennial Commission. Director Cleveland Museum of Artist
