Consulting engineer, Worcester, 1893-1905. President and treasurer Rockwood Sprinkler Company, 25 years. Director Worcester Bank & Trust Company Professor thermodynamics, 1907, 08.

Life trustee Worcester Polytechnic Institute, president ad interim since 1939.

President of the board of trustees Rural Cemetery, Worcester. Honorary member American Society of Mechanical Engineers (vice president).

Member American Antiquarian Society Founder the Alexander Lyman Holley Gold Medal for Great Achievement, administered by The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, New New York President board of trustees, Home Aged Females, Worcester.
