Joined Inverness Bar and practised as solicitor and Notary Public 1876-1894, and took part in Town Council and leading public affairs. SherifrSubstitute of Ross, Cromarty, and Sutherland at Stornoway, 1894-1902, and of Inverness, Elgin, and Nairn, for combined Districts of Skye (Portree) and Long Island (Lochmaddy), since 1902.
