With Baldwin & Company, cotton factors and dealers in fertilizers, Savannah, 1879-1891, partner from 1880.
Organizer, and president and general manager, Baldwin Fertilizer Company, 1887-1894, became associate with Stone & Webster, Boston, 1898, organizing many Southern public utility electric companies, of which is president, including Savannah Electric Company Became president 1917, Pacific Mail Steamship Company. Also Chairman of the Board New York Shipbuilding Company and American International Shipbuilding Company (builders of Hog Island Shipyard and ships).
