George was an American architect, designer of a number of the city's early buildings, the Avondale Presbyterian Church, and the Ingalls Building, also the Children's Hospital, associated on the latter with Stanley Matthews.

George M. Anderson was born in 1869.

Education

George studied at the city public schools in his youth. Later received a professional education at the Department of Architecture in Columbia University and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France.

Career

Mr. Anderson was employed for a few years as draftsman in the office of Samuel Hannaford & Sons, one of the leading firms in the city, and on leaving there, joined the late Alfred C. Elzner in a partnership. He continued practice under the firm name of Elzner & Anderson, and until the time of his own decease was connected with the design of a number of the city's early buildings, notably the Avondale Presbyterian Church , and the Ingalls Building, also the Children's Hospital, associated on the latter with Stanley Matthews.
