Career
I am Professor and Chair of Accounting at the Sino-US Cooperative Program between Beijing Institute of Technology and Bryant University, which I joined after 30 years of academic appointments at the Universities of Sydney (Ranked #18 in QS World University Rankings 2025) and Wollongong (Ranked #162 in QS World University Rankings 2025) in Australia. I hold academic and professional credentials in Accounting, Computer Science, Operations Research and Information Systems. In 1988, I was a Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) Scholar at the London School of Economics & Political Science, where I was exposed to critical perspectives on Information Systems and their impact on society. As fate would have it, the Internet Bubble burst in 2000 and my analytical critique of Fortune 100 companies extreme MetaCapitalism efficiency changes of their structures since 1998 revealed in 2003 and 2005 (received best paper award) publications how Lehman Brothers collapse (amongst others) was inevitable. Indeed in 2008, Lehman Brothers collapse triggered the Global Financial Crisis, where it was clear that not all corporations in all geographic regions suffered the same fate. This prompted me to extend my MetaCapitalism analytical critique to all 70,000 listed corporations in the world. In 2013, I received my PhD in Accounting with “Examiners Commendation for Outstanding Thesis” for my seminal MetaCapitalism research that demonstrated how the geopolitical risks of neoliberalism contributed in no small measure to the Global Financial Crisis of 2008. I am skilled in consulting, research and teaching accounting information systems, auditing, computer forensics, and fraud investigation for which I won “Teacher of the Year” Award in 2021-2022. I am a competent accounting and audit analytics professional with appointments in international accounting firms, InfoTech consulting firms and Global 500 financial services institutions. My distinguished scholarly activities has won me several prestigious awards and research fellowships to AACSB, AMBA, IAE & EQUIS Business Schools in Britain, France, and the United States. I am an eclectic published author in leading scholarly and professional practice journals, with my research read in 126 countries and cited in the global press. My AACSB Scholarly Academic score is 190 points in the past 5 years. I am actively engaged with the profession, and I comment regularly on geopolitical business affairs.
