Career

Sergt. Company E, 24th New Jersey Volumes Civil War. Because of ill health, abandoned practice of medicine, 1872. Associate with William T. Bailey & Company, real estate, 1872-1882.

Entered wholesale coal business on own account, 1882. Organized 1894, George W. Bailey Coal Company, and was president until 1905 (retired). President Overlook Cemetery Company Trustee Presbyterian Hospital (Philadelphia).

Vice president W. Jersey Orphanage for Destitute Colored Children (Camden, New Jersey). Charter member, trustee School for Christian Workers (Philadelphia). Trustee Vice-President Board of Education, Presbyterian Church of United States of America.
