Evans, George Watkin was born on March 5, 1876 in Ystrad, Rhonnda Valley, Wales. Son of Watkin and Catherine (Hughes) Evans.

Education

Student International Corresponding Schools, Scranton, Pennsylvania, 1892-1896. Bachelor of Science and Engineer of Mines, State College of Washington, Pullman, Washington.

Career

Practical work in coal mines, 1888-1896. Later in the Klondyke and placer mines, Yukon. With Washington Geological Survey, 1899-1901.

Cyanide practice in gold mines, Colorado, 1902. Practiced as engineer, 1903-1908. Geologist in charge coal surveys Washington Geological Survey, 1909-1912.

Consultant mining engineer United States bureau of Mines, since 1911, also consultant Mining Engineer United States Navy. District mining engineer United States bureau of Mines during World War I. Construction engineering for large fuel companies, also Canadian National Rys.

Now in practice as consultant mining engineer.
