Career

1 son D(avid) Percy. Appointed 1886, by United States commissioner education, in response to request of King of Korea, to go to Seoul, to found and teach in Royal Korean College. Remained until 1889; engaged in literature work and teaching, Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, 1889-1893. Instructor English Bible, 1893-1895, professor biblical history and lecturer on comparative religion, 1895-1899, Bangor Theological Seminary.

Professor O.T. lang and literature, and history of religion in Meadville Theological School, 1899-1906. Bibliographer, associate editor, indexer and writer for the New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, 1905-1914. Associate editor Homiletic Review, since 1911.
