Moved to Chicago, 1893. Professor ophthalmology and director Loyola University School Medicine. Consultant oculist Saint Vincent Infant Asylum, House of the Good Shepherd.

Oculist Mercy, Henrotin, United States Marine and Saint Mary of Nazareth hospitals Commissioned by Governor Altgeld, 1896, captain and assistant surgeon 7th Regiment, Illinois National Guard, 1896-1904, resigned.

Mustered into volunteer service of the United States in spring of 1898. Served through Spanish-American War.

Held rank of captain and assistant surgeon. Detached from 7th Regiment during summer of 1898 and placed in charge of hospitals corps of 2d Army Corps.
