Career
He was born Saint-Lambert, Maine-et-Loire district. His work is often incorporates French allegorical symbolism, as in his statue of Louisiana Marseillaise. He first studied at the École des Beaux-Arts d"Angers as a young man in the late 40"s, and later in Paris at École des Beaux-Arts.
